Prepare your boat for sale without hiding its history
Make the boat easy to inspect, describe and show before you create a listing.

Prepare the information first
Collect service receipts and a short list of recent maintenance. Note the equipment that stays with the boat and identify anything that will be removed before closing. If you know of an issue, write down its symptoms and the work already performed without presenting an unconfirmed diagnosis as a solved problem.
Organize the documents separately from the public listing. Confirm the make, model year, registration number and hull serial against reliable records. Clear information helps a buyer prepare useful questions and makes an inspection more productive.
Clean for inspection
Remove personal belongings, clean visible surfaces and make storage areas accessible. Keep safety equipment organized and identify which items are included. A clean boat is easier to inspect, but cosmetic preparation should not conceal damage, water intrusion or a repair that needs explanation.
Take fresh photographs after preparation. Show the condition buyers will encounter at a viewing, including worn areas. If a repair is completed after the photos, update the listing so the images and description continue to agree.
Plan the viewing
Decide who can show the boat and which access permissions are needed. Discuss inspection or sea-trial arrangements with the buyer and any marina involved before making promises. Keep inquiries linked to the boat, respond with specific answers and update the listing when the asking price or availability changes.
